Crackle is an over-the-top video streaming platform that is a joint venture between Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television. Its library consists of original content as well as programming acquired from other companies. The service is available in 21 countries on connected devices including mobile, tablets, smart TVs, desktop, and gaming consoles.

An unsatisfied Crackle user wrote the following in a review: This app is the worst. Sometimes I encounter this bug that just plays ads over and over again without going back to the movie. Also, I often encounter a bug that keeps resetting the video back to the beginning.

Another unhappy Crackle user posted the following: I was just trying to find one movie to play and browsing is like torture. It then starts playing a movie full screen in the background so I had to mute it. They seriously need to redesign it.

Former Employee - Account Executive says

"I worked at Crackle full-time for more than a year Cons: - Crackle Plus doesn't match 401K - Crackle Plus CEO has a warped perception of how to effectively increase user base - No transparency from the top-down - Lack of consistent and solid go-to-market strategy - No room for personal growth"

"I have been working at Crackle full-time for more than a year Cons: Weak management, ‘buddy system”"

"I have been working at Crackle full-time for more than a year Cons: The environment has become toxic and uncertain."

"I worked at Crackle full-time for more than a year Cons: - New upper management really doesn't care about their product nor good knowledge or vision. Crackle once had good management back in 2014-2015 but lost it. Slowly veteran employee's that knew the product have been leaving for obvious reasons. - We had a person from cPrime train the whole company on Agile. Now they claim to practice Agile methodologies, but it's mostly just waterfall still. They do not manage their backlog very well or prioritize with business logic. A lot of the employees don't want to change their bad habits especially management. - Majority of the employee base is now consultants and I noticed they rarely hire on full-time anymore. - If you have good soft skills, you will be able to maintain your position. Hard work and actual output you do isn't fully looked upon or reviewed. - Very political work place and cut throat environment. If you have good philosophy in "The Art of War" you might be able to survive there and fit in. - Your boss will always take credit of your work when you make a successful impact and blame you when they fail in poor decisions or planning. - The offshore consultant companies eventually will know more about the product than the onsite team for job security. This is due to poor documentation, and lack of original staff that knew the product. The offshore consultant company will always ask for an increase in pay and try to control the product to their advantage. Sony Pictures Entertainment is a great place to work and I hear many good things about SPE as it's self. However, the group Crackle is a separate entity which has been in the bottom of the barrel in the organization. If you want to work at Sony Pictures Entertainment, I would recommend you DO NOT work for Crackle. Every year they do reorganizations on the group with rapid change. It hasn't been doing them any good and seems they continue to go down hill."

"I worked at Crackle full-time for more than 8 years Cons: The management wants to pretend that the company is on par with Hulu and Netflix. They make lots of powerpoints showing this. They want the employees to drink this poisoned kool aid as well. However, the management is too busy chasing after the latest trendy technology they heard about rather than making technology that is stable and easy to use for the consumer. Not only that but the office politics will hinder any career advancement."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Crackle full-time Cons: More important to look good and look busy than to do good work Only those that are buddies get rewarded A culture about following the money at any cost rather than seeking to be innovative or engaging to the consumer Fakes traffic numbers Pretends they are a bigger player than they are. Extremely good at telling you that they are screwing you but horrible about doing anythign differently."

Former Employee - Producer says

"I worked at Crackle full-time for less than a year Cons: Crackle is a horrible and inefficient venture. Business plan is nonexistent."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I have been working at Crackle full-time for less than a year Cons: Horribly run company. Management is compleat lay out to lunch."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Crackle full-time for less than a year Cons: Lack of leadership, lack of identity, lack of understanding on how to appeal to non-users to gain new subs"

Current Employee - N/A says

"I have been working at Crackle part-time Cons: Hours are long and require a lot"

Allie Fleder says

"I watched 2 minutes and then 10 minutes of ads. Didn’t even see a place to sign up... Terrible experience."
